Minuteman Miniatures
This year at Gen Con I stumbled upon a busy booth in the hallway leading to the Lucas Oil Stadium. The company, Minuteman Miniatures (not a reference to the latest Stormy Daniels interview) 3D prints miniatures using your face. According to Miniatureyou.com:
Using advanced new methods of 3D scanning and liquid-resin 3D printing, Minuteman Miniatures has developed a way to create custom gaming miniatures with your actual face. In other words, we can create a Miniature You™.
Our digital sculptors combine your 3D facial scan with a selection from our range of male and female bodies to create a one of a kind miniature bearing your exact likeness. From a Greek Hoplite to a Fantasy Wizard, we can create the perfect miniature for your next game.
Our 3D scanning process is performed in person at local scanning events and gaming conventions, and is finished in less than two minutes. Once we have your facial scan on file, we can create a Miniature You™ at any point in the future – today, tomorrow, or two years from now. And the best part? Our facial scans are always 100% Free.
How does it work?
At Gen Con the MM team was scanning attendees with handheld devices that recorded a 3D image of the face and hair. You would then choose a body style for them to affix your grinning mug. They had a variety of styles and poses to choose from, most were medieval fantasy and matched iconic Dungeons and Dragons character classes. They even had mounted figures which were especially nice. Once you’ve had your grape scanned and chosen a body style, your mini is 3D printed and shipped to you. Currently the process takes about 8-10 weeks, according to the gentleman at the booth.

I’m still waiting on my miniature from Gen Con 2018. If I lived closer to Lake Geneva WI I’d drive there to talk to the owner of Minuteman Miniatures. He doesn’t respond to messages or emails…

That sucks!

I would advise people to avoid this company. There are quite a few customers from Gen Con of last August and Pax Unplugged of last November/December who ordered (and paid) for minis that they are still waiting for. This company does not return messages and does not provide any customer service.
